Dear Blossom Families,
“Why try to explain miracles to your kids when you can just have them plant a garden.”
- Robert Brault
While the gardening study is coming to an end, our plants are certainly not done growing! The beauty of this study is being able to apply our knowledge and enjoy the plants and greenhouse throughout the summer. The Blossoms have especially loved all the hands on learning we tackled, whether it was covering a sunflower seed with soil, delicately comparing the lengths of worms, or sipping on dandelion tea. We learned to treasure many of our backyard critters and profusely thank bees for their tireless and critical work.
Questions to ask your blossoming botanist:
- How are greenhouses a good environment for plants to grow?
- How does the life of a plant become a cycle?
- What critters live in our yard/garden that either help or hurt the plants?
- What plants do you find beautiful in our neighborhood or garden?
- How can plants be used to heal?
- Trick question… Are bees or trees more important?
Starting in June we will begin our Artist Study. For years this unit has been a Blossom and teacher favorite. This group is already so artistically inspired and inclined, we can’t wait to jump right in! Over the next month we will travel through significant art movements and several of the key artists within each. We will explore and appreciate diversity in different art mediums, techniques, and artists themselves. We will execute several recreations of each artist’s work. The study will conclude with the third annual “Blossom Art Show.” This showcase will include all of our masterpieces that are bound to be created throughout the month as well as group masterworks that will be available through a silent auction. Details to come as the date gets closer. If you, a family member, or friend is an artist in any form, please share your expertise with us! Please message or check-in with questions or ideas. We are extremely excited to let our creativity soar this month!
Thank you for all the thoughtful and generous gestures during teacher appreciation week. We feel so fortunate to be a part of the Growing Tree community!
We wish you well,
Emily, Keegan, Kinderoo & Joey
