Dear Sprout Families,
Our February study, “Me, Myself and I.” was successful! The Sprouts loved learning about their bodies and how they move. We did a lot of dancing and some yoga, where we learned to move our bodies together in different situations. Head, Shoulder, Knees, and Toes was a class favorite, as well as The Freeze Dance, which is always fun to dance to. We also did a lot of practice about what our emotions looked like while looking in a mirror.
February also brought Valentine’s Day fun, including exchanging valentines and a special treat prepared by Mr. Matt. Thank you to everyone for the goodies and for participating in the festivities.
In March, our study will be “Bubbles and Balls.” Children are fascinated with bubbles and balls and get so much enjoyment from watching how they move. They often carry, roll, throw, kick, and chase balls, all while supporting their development and learning in all areas. Here are a few examples of what the Sprouts will work on this month.
- Ball rules
- Fine motor skills with balls
- Identifying balls
- Matching
- Comparing sizes
Focus Words for March:
- Bounce
- Pop
- Roll
- Throw
- Catch
We welcomed McKenna to our Sprout room this month! We are so excited to have her with us and get to know her and her family.
Monthly Highlights:
- Avery is the best dancer! She is the first to “wriggle her hips” like the crocodile from the Eric Carle story From Head to Toe.
- Elia enjoyed the book I Love All of Me. She will follow along, making movements that coincide with each page.
- Finn loved Baby Doll Circle Time! He is careful that his baby sits up so he can help her sing and dance to Row Row Your Boat.
- Henry has been practicing counting with his fingers during Circle Time! Each time we count bunnies or apples, he holds up his fingers with his teachers.
- McKenna has been working so hard to get her snow gear all by herself and is nearly there! Great work, McKenna!
- Otto has been doing a great job following along during yoga. He has even been able to keep his balance in Tree pose.
- Sophie has expressed interest in zipping up her coat by herself, and with a bit of practice and some guidance, we know she will get it in no time!
- Wilder is all about looking in the mirror and learning about his expressions. We all love practicing them with him!
It has been a wet winter so far, and to keep the Sprouts happy and dry, please make sure your child has at least one set of clothes to change into if needed. Thanks so much; we appreciate you all!
Thank you to everyone for being so supportive and making sure your child has everything they need to be comfortable while at school. We can not do this without you!
Luck of the Irish to Ya!
