“Play is the highest form of research.” – Albert Einstein

Welcome to Sprout 2! We are excited to get to know Owen, Brody, Norah, Alice, Bode, and Mary from Big Seeds. We are also thrilled to welcome June, Van, and their families to Growing Tree!

Our philosophy at Growing Tree is “Children Learn Through Play.” Play is the best way for toddlers to learn. We focus onallowing the children independence at their own pace. Several times a day,
Sprouts can be in nature with their friends to move freely and test their gross
motor skills. You will be amazed at what your child can accomplish through
support and encouragement. We are committed to this play-based learning
approach as we believe it is the most effective way for children to learn and
grow.

ConsciousDiscipline is our social-emotional model at Growing Tree. Mindfulness
activities are incorporated into our daily schedule to promote building our
sense of self and community. Some activities include toddler yoga, deep
breathing, baby doll circle time, and checking in with our feelings.

As Growing Treeteachers, we strive to create bonds with each child by providing a positive and
safe space for everyone to grow, learn, and play. Your child will spend each
day doing creative artwork, playing games, enjoying circle time, and engaging
in pretend play, music, and movement activities.

Meet the teachers:

  • Hello, my name is Ms. Kelcy! I have been a devoted toddler teacher at Growing Tree for 17 years. Growing Tree is my home away from home! My objective in the classroom is always to build a space where children feel comfortable, happy, and supported daily. “It takes a big heart to shape little minds.” ♥️ I am originally from the Oregon coast so, naturally, I love the beach! I like to read, kayak, and spend time with my husband, family, and friends in my free time. I also have a basset hound doggie named Bruno! I can’t wait to get to know all our new Sprout 2 families and start this journey together!
  • Hi, my name is Ms.Yesenia! I am originally from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, but I grew up in Bend, Oregon. I am excited about this new position and look forward to meeting new families and making friends here. I joined the Growing Tree Family in March 2024. Outside the classroom, I love concerts, soccer, road trips, video games, astronomy, poetry, and spending time with my family and friends. I am looking forward to this year and making learning fun. Being a big part of your children’s lives is an honor!
  • Hey there, my name is Ms. April! As a dedicated preschool teacher, I am passionate about fostering a nurturing and creative environment for young learners. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy painting, hiking, swimming, and fishing, which inspire my love for nature and creativity. This year, I aim to help students develop strong communication skills with teachers, family, or peers. I encourage them to explore their imaginations, build confidence, and develop independence as they grow. I’m excited to reach new milestones.

We focus on a monthly “study”. Our September study will be “My School.” Each monthly study will incorporate all the developmental areas. Books and Songs will relate to our study.

September Books:

  • Pete the Cat Rocking in My School Shoes

  • Each child has a file folder right outside of our room.

Additional Information:

  • Your child’s art projects and other necessary paperwork are in this file.
  • On Fridays, we ask that you please take your child’s blanket home to be washed.
  • We provide notes on the Brightwheel app that will let you know how your child’s day was and if they may need diapers, wipes, or extra clothing.
  • In our classroom, we have a “Family” board. Please bring in a 4×6 family photo we can display.

Feel free to call or message Brightwheel anytime if you have questions. We are here to help make this transition a fun and happy one!
