Dear Bud Families,

It’s November, and we have already felt that cold chill coming in. October was a fantastic month in the Bud classroom, as we’ve seen so much growth and development. We will continue with reminders of our expectations as the children get comfortable in their environment. Each student has settled into the schedule and found space to take charge of their learning through exploration and discovery.

Our October study of Fairy Tales included the books The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything, The Three Little Pigs, The Runaway Pancake, Goldilocks, and the Three Bears. The Buds discussed the difference between “real” and “pretend” stories. We also explored our ‘Giant’ pumpkin from the pumpkin patch. We all have tried to lift it, hammer on it, and even explore its insides.

November’s study will focus on harvest and fall-time foods. Our featured book will be “Stone Soup.” At the end of the month, we will ask each child to bring in a vegetable to contribute to our version of “Stone Soup.” Hopefully, they will enjoy taste-testing it at our Friendsgiving. We know the best way for children to learn is by experiencing with their senses.

Don’t forget to sign up for conferences. We are looking forward to meeting with you on November 11th! We are excited to get to know you better and spend a few minutes face-to-face. We love getting to know your children and seeing their unique personalities shine through! Thank you for sharing them with us.

New Bud! We welcomed Kingsley and her parents, Brooke and Shawn, this month. She has fit in quite well, and we look forward to getting to know her family better. Welcome to the Bud Room!

A few reminders:

  • With colder weather, please make sure your child has appropriate clothing. We spend recess outside to stretch our legs, get our wiggles out, and breathe fresh air.
  • The children have begun asking for gloves. It would be great if they had two (2) pairs in the blue baskets above their cubbies for those wet, snowy days.
  • Please make sure to take home bedding on Fridays to be washed.
  • When we are finished displaying their art, we will place it in the file folder on the table next to the classroom door for you to take home. Most of our activities are sensory group activities that support problem-solving and improve social skills by using words to communicate and show empathy.
  • School closed on November 11th for Parent Conferences
  • School closed November, 28rd and 29th for  Thanksgiving

We appreciate your kindness; we look forward to seeing you all soon!

Best Wishes, Ms. Stephanie, Ms. Maci, and Ms. Gale
