Welcome to the Sprout Two room! Avery, Henry, Finn, Otto, and Sophie join us from the Big Seed room! We look forward to getting to know them and their families. We are happy that Bodi, Olive, and Taylor will stay with us a little longer!
Meet the teachers:
Hi, my name is Ms. Kelcy! I am originally from the Oregon Coast, so naturally, I love the beach. I enjoy music, crafting, kayaking, and spending time with my husband, family, and friends. I also have a basset hound doggie named Bruno! I have been working at Growing Tree for 16 years. Being one of the teachers here is very rewarding and fun! I am honored to be a big part of your children’s lives!
Hello! My name is Ms. Tracy. I have been a teacher at Growing Tree for the last four years. I am also a certified children’s yoga teacher and enjoy sharing my practice. I moved to Oregon from the east coast 14 years ago and have loved it here ever since. I am looking forward to meeting all the new faces in September!
Classroom:
Our philosophy at Growing Tree is “Children learn through play.” Play is the best way for toddlers to learn. We focus on supporting the Sprout’s independence but at their own pace. Several times a day, Sprouts can be out in nature with their friends to move freely and test their gross motor skills. You will be amazed at what your child can accomplish through support and encouragement.
Conscious Discipline is our social-emotional model at Growing Tree. Mindfulness activities are incorporated into our daily schedule to promote building our sense of self and community. Some of the things we do include toddler yoga, baby doll circle time, and checking in with our feelings.
As Growing Tree teachers, we strive to create bonds with each child by providing a positive and safe space for everyone to grow, learn, and play. Your child will spend each day doing creative artwork, playing games, enjoying circle time, engaging in pretend play, and engaging in “music and movement.”
We focus on a monthly “study”. Our September study will be ‘My School.” Art projects will include color mixing, apple stamping, and finger painting. During circle time, we will sing “The Wheels on the Bus,” “ABCs,” and “Make New Friends.” Our books are “Pete the Cat Rocking in my School Shoes,” ‘Lama Misses Mama,” and “If You Take a Mouse to School.”
Each child has a file folder right outside of our room. You will find your child’s art projects and other important paperwork in this file. On Fridays, we ask that you please take your child’s blanket home to be washed. We provide notes on the Brightwheel app that will let you know how your child’s day was and if they may need diapers, wipes, or extra clothing. In our classroom, we have a “Family” board. Please bring in a 4×6 family photo we can display.
Feel free to call or message on Brightwheel anytime if you have questions. We are here to help make this transition a fun and happy one! 😊
Thank you,
Ms. Kelcy and Ms. Tracy
