Hello, Sprout 2 families!
Brody, Bode, June, Norah, Owen, Mary, Alice, Savannah, and Van have done an excellent job transitioning into their new classroom! It is incredible how quickly they picked up the routine and thrived in all they did!
“Our School” was the focus of the September Study. Our classroom and routine are pretty different from the Big Seed room. Hence, it is important we spend the month making those crucial connections with your child so they feel safe and nurtured while in our care and becoming familiar with our classroom, safety, and routine.
A Sprouts Work:
Our goal in the Sprout room is to allow your child to do as much as possible to foster independence. Encouraging and allowing time for the Sprouts to do as much for themselves as possible helps develop independence, which in turn grows a positive sense of self.
- Each Sprout has a cubby and has enjoyed using it to store personal items and put naptime items away all by themselves.
- The Sprouts drink from open cups, use spoons, hang their coats on hooks, and wash their hands independently.
- We encourage “Clean up” by putting toys away before attempting a new activity.
- Outside, the playground has been a whole new world. Everything is BIG! Even the curbs can be a hurdle right now for their little legs.
- There are so many new experiences to be had and the Sprouts are ready to learn!
Monthly Highlights:
- Brody really enjoys each new activity he does and always has a smile on his face! He loves sculpting with playdough and dancing during circle time.
- Bode uses his gross motor skills to climb onto the play structure and gets excited about circletime songs! His favorite is “Five Little Speckled Frogs.”
- June races to the bikes when we go outside. She loves riding the bike! She looks forward to it and will say, “I’m riding a bike.” June and her family are new to GT, and watching her become more comfortable with her new teachers and friends has been fun.
- Norah found joy in painting with watercolors during art! She made a beautiful picture! She also loves to pretend to play in the toy kitchen area.
- Owen is all about trucks! He likes to push them around the classroom. Some mornings, the garbage truck passes by our classroom window, and Owen points it out! Beep, beep!
- Mary is interested in our table activities. She likes to sort and stack animals, and she has mastered climbing up the steps on the play structure. Woohoo!
- Alice has been busy caring for all the baby dolls in the home center. She attempts to carry them all at once, too—it is so cute! She is also working on pushing the soap dispenser on her own!
- Savannah gravitates to the playground’s sandbox. She likes to find treasures and seashells! She is also working on the coat trick on her own! Yay!
- Van’s favorite is playing kickball. I think we might have a future soccer player in the making! He and his family are new to GT, and he is adjusting quickly and settling in. We love to see that!
This month and functions.
Meeting our new Sprouts and their families has been a pleasure. We look forward to watching them grow, learn, and play during our time together!
