Sprout 1 Families

Welcome to the New Year. We cannot believe that it is already 2025. Where do the years go?

In December, we explored Paper. Each Sprout had fun discovering different paper types. Some would tear the paper, and some would take little nibbles to see if it tasted good. The look on their faces as they tasted the paper was priceless.

We read:

  • Don’t Shake the Present by Bill Cotter
  •  Little Blue Truck’s Christmas by Alice Schertle
  •  It’s Christmas David by David Shannon.

We Sang:

  • Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
  • Santa Shark
  • Jingle Bells
  • Rock, Paper, Scissors.

Art:

Our Sprouts enjoyed using paint sticks and markers to draw circles and scribbles. They enjoy squeezing the glue bottle to put glue on their paper. They are becoming very independent and creative with their art.

Our classroom was filled with holiday hats and stuffies;  the sensory table was filled with cotton balls and felt snowballs.

Outside: the Sprouts played in the snow and wore snowsuits, hats, mittens, and boots. Their mobility has improved greatly in their snowsuits.

Sproutlights:

Cadence enjoyed going outside and playing in the snow. She also enjoyed tasting the snow. Her smile said it all!

Blake liked being in the kitchen area making cookies for her babies. She told them to eat and yum yum as she fed them.

Grady would stand at the sensory table and play with the snowballs and polar bears. He was good at throwing snowballs at the wall. As he was throwing the snowballs, he would say, “Yeah. Yeah.”

Declan had fun sitting at the table working on art projects. He enjoys squeezing the glue bottle all by himself. He always looks so proud of his work.

Jaxon had fun wearing the Santa hats. He would sit in the chair in the book area, looking at a book while he wore his hat. He would look up at us, smile and say “Google bug boo.” (His way of reading the book)

Jordan also enjoyed wearing the Santa hats. He would walk around the room saying, “Ho. Ho. Ho.”

Violet would go in the dress-up area, put on a Santa hat, and get the owl holiday stuffie.

Wynter had fun dancing and singing songs during circle time. She did a great job doing the hand motions for Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

Everyone had fun exploring the different types of paper. We all can’t wait to see what great fun we will have in January.

In January, our study is SHOES

The Sprouts are very interested in taking their shoes and socks on and off. Throughout the month, as we explore shoes, the Sprouts will be developing:

  •  Math skills as they match shoes and compare their sizes.
Language and literacy skills as they describe their shoes’ color, shape, size, and type.
  • They will use their cognitive skills as they persist in problem-solving by putting on and removing their shoes.

As with every study, our books and music will support our study of shoes. We will play matching games in the classroom with our shoes and socks and practice lacing. We hope to explore our boots’ tracks in the snow or on wet ground. We cannot wait to share the fun we expect this month.

Thank you to everyone for the holiday gifts. We all so appreciate you.

Happy New Year
